At Lume, it’s all about visibility. Visibility in traffic, so you can be seen and recognized as a road user in the first place. Since visibility is hard to explain with words (and pictures do it much better), we needed a photo shoot. And we’ve just successfully completed our first one!
The photo shoot
It may not sound spectacular to many people, but the top model at our shoot was none other than our final prototypes. They’ve now been thoroughly tested on bikes, trailers and all kinds of other vehicles.
Admittedly, we couldn’t have imagined just how long you can work on a “light-up bike flag.” That’s why we never call it that—by now, it’s a 360° light signal that makes cyclists visible even above car roofs.
The requirements were, quite literally, high
It had to work in everyday life. That means it needs to be quick to attach and easy to remove and fold up once you’ve parked your vehicle. It also needs to be ready when you set off, with a long battery life and short charging cycles. And of course, it had to be sturdy, because riding a bike can get pretty bumpy, especially in wind and rain.
In short: we’ve managed to do all that thanks to the development team at TU Wien and Peter Scheuermann. And that’s why we finally wanted to photograph and film it, and show it to everyone, so to speak, “in action.”
You may now understand a little better just how much our first photo shoot meant to us, so we’re proud to share our first behind-the-scenes pictures.
